2001: A Space Odyssey

A team project to recreate a faithful, screen accurate reproduction of 1:6 scale miniature interior set from the film “2001: A Space Odyssey”, with removable walls for filming, and allowing for underfloor lighting. There were many Neoclassical references to pay attention to also, such as proportions, paint finishes, ceramics, fabrics and paintings. 

The set was built in 7 weeks by a team of 12, including myself. There were no measurements publicly available, meaning we had to figure out methods of discovering them ourselves in order to make a faithful replica. Once completed, it was taken to one of the stages at the school, lit from beneath by a cinematographer and then shot on a motion control Milo rig. Digital assets were added in post production by the DFX students.

Whilst we all contributed to the walls of the set, we each individually made a piece of furniture - again no measurements were available to this also had to be discovered by ourselves also.
